Claire Bass is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Nebraska, where she teaches Reproductive Health Law, Health Law, Business Associations, and Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions. Claire joined the Nebraska Law faculty after practicing on the health care industry team at Baker Hostetler for several years. There, she specialized in healthcare regulatory and compliance challenges. She dedicated significant time to advising clients on, and tracking, emerging reproductive health law issues following the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Claire’s scholarship focuses on reproductive justice and autonomy in medical decision-making. Her article, Lessons from Eugenics: Safeguarding Autonomy in Procreation, forthcoming in the Villanova Law Review, argues that the freedom to avoid procreation is a critical element of the right established in Skinner v. Oklahoma, reconceptualizing procreative rights to restore self-determination to procreative decision-making.
