Dana G. Jones

Dana G. Jones is Associate Professor of Law and the incoming Director of the Health Law Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Her work examines the intersection of health law, artificial intelligence, and regulatory governance, with particular focus on health insurance systems, health disparities, and algorithmic decision-making in healthcare.  She previously served as Assistant Professor of Law at North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she was recognized for excellence in teaching, and Professor of the Year. Professor Jones was credentialed as an Emerging Technology Faculty Leader for her scholarship in artificial intelligence and the intersectionality of technology and teaching acumen. She holds a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law and an LL.M. in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago. Prof. Jones is licensed to practice in Illinois and North Carolina and is admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Her recent scholarship appears in the Elder Law Journal and the DePaul Journal of Health Care Law, with additional forthcoming works exploring AI governance, civil rights and cybersecurity in medical device technologies.  

A dedicated mentor and engaged educator, Professor Jones has guided students in nationally recognized research presentations, as well as moot court and trial advocacy competitions. She is respected for integrating data science and artificial intelligence into doctrinal teaching, preparing students for the evolving demands of next-generation legal practice.
