Jennifer Heaven Mike-Oworodo

Dr. Jennifer Heaven Mike is a Global Studies Scholar and Hampton and Esther Boswell Distinguished University Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at DePauw University, Indiana, USA. Prior to this appointment, she served as Assistant Professor of Law at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, where she also held the positions of Chair of the Department of Public and International Law, Director of the Centre for Governance, Human Rights and Development, and Director of the Intersessional Programme. Dr. Mike holds a PhD from the University of Exeter, an LLM from London Metropolitan University, and an LLB from the University of Jos. She has practiced and taught law in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She is the author of two books, an edited monograph, and over twenty-five peer-reviewed articles, with particular expertise in the right to health, reproductive rights and other human rights issues. She serves as a reviewer for several academic journals and has provided policy advisory services to organizations including GIZ, and the Atiku Development Center. She also serves as facilitator and project supervisor for the UNFPA and AUN’s Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies Course. Dr. Mike is the founder of the Mike and Nanre Bello Foundation, dedicated to mentoring young people through Career and Motivation Workshops.
