Marilyn L. Uzdavines is Professor of Law at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law and Affiliate Faculty at NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine. She teaches a range of health law courses at the JD and graduate levels, including Health Policy and Bioethics, Disability Law, Law and Medicine Seminar, Health Care Organizations, Health Care Compliance, Legal and Medical Interprofessionalism, and Pharmaceutical Law.
Professor Uzdavines conducts scholarship at the intersection of health care law, policy, and equity. She is the author of articles on health care fraud and the Stark Law, medical device regulation, disability rights in health care, and interprofessional education. Her work has appeared in the Indiana Health Law Review, Texas A&M Law Review, Nevada Law Journal, UMKC Law Review, and Academic Medicine, among other publications. She serves as co-investigator on a grant-funded research project addressing health disparities among underrepresented youth in law and medicine.
She has twice received NSU’s Student Bar Association Professor of the Year award and has been named NSU’s Co-Curricular Advisor of the Year, a university-wide honor. Prior to entering academia, Professor Uzdavines practiced law at Holland & Knight LLP in Tampa, Florida where her focus was on corporate transactions. She holds a JD, magna cum laude, and a BA in Political Science, magna cum laude, both from the University of Florida.
