Medha D. Makhlouf

Medha D. Makhlouf is the Elsie de R. and Samuel P. Orlando Distinguished Professor at Penn State Dickinson Law. Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of health law, immigrants’ rights, and poverty law and policy. Medha is the Founding Director of the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic, which aims to reduce health disparities and improve health through collaboration with health care providers. Currently, the Clinic focuses on improving immigrants’ access to health-supporting public benefits. Medha’s scholarship has been published in the New York University Law Review, the Boston University Law ReviewCalifornia Law Review Online, the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law & Ethics, and several other academic journals. She is currently writing her first book, Health Justice for Migrants, which will examine the range of laws affecting access to health care for noncitizens living in the United States. The book will reveal the root causes of health inequalities in this population and point toward the types of reforms needed to address them. Medha received her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her law degree from Yale Law School.
