Alexander McCourt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He combines legal research with empirical methods to study instances in which law plays a role in shaping health. He applies these methods to studies of firearm policy and violence, drug policy, and policies shaping access to health care. At Johns Hopkins, Dr. McCourt serves as Assistant Director of the Center for Law and the Public’s Health, core faculty in the Center for Gun Violence Solutions, and core faculty in the Center for Mental Health and Addiction Policy. He received his PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and his JD/MPH from the University of Arizona.
